About us

SCOOP is a network for investigative journalists in Eastern Europe, Russia, Caucasus, Central Asia and West Africa.

SCOOP Balkans – or SCOOP Classic, as it is also called – was founded in 2003 and has since supported a large number of investigative stories.

How we work

The main idea is to develop a network between journalists in and between the different areas. We work on a peer-to-peer basis in direct contact between the journalists within the country and to the SCOOP volunteer in Scandinavia.

Numerous stories and investigations are transnational, and sharing experiences is a strong support for investigative journalists in their daily work.

SCOOP brings together professional journalists to facilitate the sharing of best practices and production of investigative journalism.

Several investigations funded by SCOOP have won national and international awards, among others in Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Romania.

Organisation and funding

SCOOP is founded and managed by the Danish Association of Investigative Journalism (FUJ) and is run by FUJ in cooperation with International Media Support, a Danish ngo.

SCOOP is financially supported by the Danish and Swedish Foreign ministry.

About SCOOP Balkans

SCOOP was supporting and promoting investigative reporting in the Balkans from 2003 to 2012. For the moment the Danish Association for Investigative Journalism (FUJ) has no funding for SCOOP Classic, but is working to find new donors. .
