Viagra pills are hot on the black market in Macedonia

The main organizers of illegal viagra trade are some of the owners of medicine storages in Macedonia, who import these pills from Kosovo, Bulgaria and Greece, cooperating with the employees in the custom or they transfer the medicines through the illegal border crossings in the mountains and illegal roads, whereas they are engaging local population.
In Macedonia there can be found three kinds of viagra. Viagra that can be bought with prescription which can be recognized by the banderol of the Republic of Macedonia which is being sold legally. The second type is original viagra imported illegaly and the third kind is the forged one, which is also known as “placebo medicine”.
Many people are trying to buy viagra at the black market due to the positive laws which forbid certain kinds of medicines to be bought without prescription, among them the famous “blue pills”. Those persons who are facing sexual problems would rather go to buy viagra illegaly then to seek doctor’s help because of the conservative beliefs regarding the viagra’s use.
Ministry knows nothing
The pharmacies are the place where viagra can be bought legally as a medicine with prescription. But, with a little persistance, viagra can also be easily be bought in the pharmacies without prescription, besides the prohibitions of the Bureau for medicines. Viagra can also be bought without any problem in the erotic shops and in other smaller shops, but the most secure place where prescription for viagra is not needed is Internet.
There are several web pages on the Internet who advertise different kinds of the “blue pills” which can be ordered by phone or post.
Doctors warn that selftreatment with viagra, specially with the illegal or forged viagra can be very dangerous for the patients’ health.
The Ministry of interior affairs has no information about illegal viagra trade. The spokesperson in the ministry, Ivo Kotevski stated: “We don’t have informations that there is illegal trade with viagra in Macedonia. We don’t register these cases apart from other forms of illegal trade, but we register them just as illegal trade of medicine”.
