SCOOP Russia helps investigative journalists in the Nortwest region of Russia. The main idea is to help and support investigative journalists and develop a network between professional journalists in the region, country and to the international community of investigative journalists.
To apply for a grant, the reporter must have a good idea for a journalistic investigation and describe this in detail with budget in an application.
The participants are selected by the Russian SCOOP representatives and their Scandinavian counterparts. The selection is based on the quality of the proposal and the originality of the proposed investigation. We support both local, regional, national and international investigations.
Unfortunately we cannot support applicants from other regions in Russia than the Northwest.
The first time someone receive a SCOOP grant, he/she receives:
one week of training in investigative methods at the Swedish Press institute FOJO, usually in March (Russian-speaking teachers and organizers)
a grant to enable the journalist to carry out the investigation
the opportunity to present the investigation in a master class, usually in October
The following years, former participants can apply for a working grant, but without attending the training week. Some of the former participants will be invited to the October masterclass to present their investigations.
